JACOBS MEDIA’s TECHSURVEY 2018, which will have its debut at the upcoming WORLDWIDE RADIO SUMMIT 2018 at NOON on THURSDAY, MAY 3rd, consists of more than 64,000 respondents representing well more than 500 radio stations across NORTH AMERICA.


The surveys were completed in JANUARY and FEBRUARY. THE JACOBS MEDIA team has been busily compiling the data and searching for new insights. Here’s a sneak peek at one of the key data points from the study: 


“Local” Is Radio’s Secret Sauce – Growing In Importance 


JACOBS MEDIA Pres. FRED JACOBS, who will present TECHSURVEY 2018 at WWRS 2018, commented, “Every year, we test the value of being local.  And in our new survey, well more than eight in ten agree with the notion radio’s hometown orientation is a key benefit.” 



This year’s JACOBS TECHSURVEY, sponsored by CAPITOL RECORDS, doesn’t just cover digital media and gadgets.  The study provides radio programmers with data to help them navigate the everyday questions they grapple with.  


JACOBS concluded, “While syndication and national contests proliferate on the radio, the vast majority of respondents believe the medium’s local orientation is a major strength.
