Cumulus, Michael Baisden Settle Legal Action

CUMULUS MEDIA and syndicated host MICHAEL BAISDEN have settled their legal entanglement, with the parties filing a motion in U.S. Bankruptcy Court WEDNESDAY (5/16) to get approval for the deal.

CUMULUS sued BAISDEN in MAY 2014 for restitution of $1 million it says it accidentally paid the host due to an accounting error after he left the company in 2013, failing to deduct a $1 million advance from subsequent payments.  CUMULUS win a judgement in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of TEXAS on DECEMBER 29th for $1,869,054.79 plus interest and attorneys’ fees, and BAISDEN has appealed to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

The terms of the settlement were redacted from the filing in Bankruptcy Court, and the settlement agreement was redacted in full from the publicly available motion.
